rite of passage

she had her first ever grilled cheese sammy today for lunch...and grapes (also a first)...she ate EVERY BITE!  no more baby food...and we are so close to being finished with bottles.  should be the easiest transition ever since she is always caught chugging out of her brother's sippy cup :)

mistake

sorry i have been MIA!  i had the crazy idea to do some "science experiments" with the kids.  ok...it was more like ellis' idea...but still crazy.  beckett and science just aren't ready for each other :)  anyways...long story short, the computer charger that you see in the picture ended up in a glass of water.  we have NO IDEA how this happened (suuuuure).  the computer died and i couldn't blog until i got a new one.  i'm ba-aaaaack  :)

it was big news at our house...

ellis' soccer team would be purple this year.  no more of that bright orange and black...yuk. LIGHT purple uniforms...not dark (because there is a big difference you know!)  she was soo excited.  we already had lavender bows, lavender pom pons, even a lavender PONY!!  oh yeah, i should mention they are the "purple ponies"...duh.

here they are :)  i think 10 of her best little girlfriends from the neighborhood are on the team too.  fun for them, and fun for the parents ;)  guess who they are sizing up...or staring down???
the competition.  how dare they?!?  try to outstage our girls by wearing PINK!  i think they were called "glitter".  i have to admit, i am loving that name :)
 ellis and ainsley...
beckett, ellis and ainsley...just one of the girls.  why wouldn't he be sitting on the team bench?
purple vs. pink...it is like the superbowl of little girls soccer!

 emery with the team mascot...
 of course, purple prevailed :)
as beckett would say (more like SCREAM)...GOOOOO PURPLE PONIES!!

green (okay...rainbow) with envy

when the older two are in the bath, emery is SO jealous.  she stands at the edge...looking & smiling the entire time they are in there.  she wants in!!!  i will get them all in at the same time occasionally...but it can get crazy!!  timing is everything when it comes to 3 kids :)

happy valentine's day!

you know you have a third child when the picture below is the ONLY one taken of her on her first "love" day :)  thankfully, she doesn't seem to mind!!!  i asked her to be my valentine...she said yes :)

i was so right

i have suspected for a while now that allergies were to blame for a lot of issues beckett (and his parents!) deal with.  he has a cough at least 50% of the time, runny nose, sneezing, can't breathe etc....and we all know about his eczema.  i knew there was NO WAY he could be catching cold after cold.  but every time i asked the pediatrician about allergies, he would recommend something over the counter and just say he was too young to be really treated for allergies.  i finally got tired of listening to the same shit and just made an appointment with a specialist...and i am so glad i did!!

the boy is allergic to...EVERYTHING :( basically

the test was super cool.  they make a grid and put 24 pricks in his back...with a little bit of each allergy? on each prick...i don't know the scientific way to say all of this!  i sound like an idiot...whatev.

so this is a few minutes after they put the "allergies" on.  you can see all of the little specimens...

we were armed with gum and tom & jerry on DVD.  he has to lay there while it is burning/itching the hell out of him for 20 minutes...enough time for the reactions to take place...

so as you can see here, he was allergic to almost every one!!!  if a hive/redness develops around the dot of allergy...bingo, he is allergic!

seriously!?!??!

again, he did SOOO good.  beckett loves this kind of thing...where all of the attention is on him & candy is involved.  he talked about getting to go for days and then told the doctor he loved him :)

sorry this is so WORDY!!!  but this is the part where is gets tricky.  the doc comes in and says he is the youngest kid he has ever seen with allergies this severe.  awesome.  I WAS SO RIGHT :)  not that i want to be!!  and you won't believe what he is most allergic to...

major.

yup...dogs are his arch enemy apparently (you can measure the severity of each allergy on a scale of 1-4).  the doctor recommended finding a new home for major but understood that some people just aren't willing to go that route.  we could try to treat beckett with allergy shots or keep major COMPLETELY isolated from beckett.  impossible. he said that really wouldn't work anyways because the pet dander is in the air.  we have already made up our minds that the maj  has got to go.  i know...it is SO sad.  it really is...but it is more sad too hear beckett coughing ALL NIGHT...unable to breathe.  he is already on inhalers, prescription nasal spray, etc.  i am not going to put him through allergy shots too...

so there it is.  anybody want a yorkie??

a big thanks to tom & jerry for making the test possible...

and the proof...not that anyone would suspect i was telling a fib just to get rid of the maj!!!!!
there were 24 tests and he is allergic to all but FOUR.  he is the boy in the bubble :)
so let me know if you or someone you know wants a really sweet, cute, 10 year old yorkie.  he loooooves children.  well, maybe not so much beckett anymore!

bedrail=necessity

beckett is the craziest sleeper ever (shocking, i know).  he will most likely be using a bedrail when he is 10 years old.  and yes, he has even fallen out of the bed WITH it up!!!

completely sideways with his foot sticking out.  he also sneaks out of bed and gets puzzles, toys, and books to sleep with.  at least he does sleep...

ice, ice baby

sorry for the terrible pictures...but i didn't want to bring my big camera out in this terrible snowstorm :)  the kids were inside all day yesterday (thursday) so when brody and jenna rae called at 4 to invite them over to play, they were THRILLED.  i told debra we could only stay about an hour and wouldn't be eating dinner over there.  not real sure what happened but...ummm...i ended up getting home around 11:30 i think???  brandon ended up coming over there after work and joining us for happy hour...which then turned into the guys heading to a bar until 1 a.m.  confusing, i know...the ice just makes us a little crazy.  we all (including dads) just met at chick-fil-a for a hangover fix...it was packed!!  nobody knows what to do with their kids!  love it :)
